                                   Don't Let This Be You!

Flo also known as "slobber" was in for a shock recently. About 2 months ago her mum & dad went  off on holiday to some far away place and she ended up at what can only be described as a boot camp! The "teacher" (some might say drill sergeant) had her awake at 06.00am every morning and had her running to the shops!. Apparently this had been arranged by her mum as she had decided that Flo had to start earning her keep. When asked to give an account of the "holiday" Flo stated:

At 9.00pm every night my mum writes on the bag what she wants from the shop and at 06.00am every morning I have to "trot" down to the shops, the local shopkeeper must be in on this as he  seemed to be expecting me and knew to put everything in the bag. I dread Saturday's as the bag is extra heavy as a result of her couple of bottles of "Pinot Grigio" and his 6 cans of Stella taking place of the "smart price" dog biscuits.  The only good thing is Sunday's when I get to have a lie in as by the time they have both demolished the booze they are in no fit state to write out the list on the bag, any way I'll have to go now as its nearly time for my bed... but just remember.

If your mum & dad go away for a holiday and she packs you off to some place where there's a dark haired women who is all smiles and a big youth that bangs around all the time then takes you out running at 06.00am every morning , then your probably going to have the same fate!

     Butter wouldn't melt!

A few months ago we were having enormous problems with our 2 year old Bichon called Charlie, his behaviour within the home had become unbearable, until we met Jenny. We were given a plan of action and literally within a couple of days our home was transformed, Charlie’s behaviour has improved fantastically. Jenny was able to spot immediately the areas that we needed to work on and we are absolutely delighted with the progress to date,

"Thank You"  Jenny

    Tigger

Tigger joined our “pack” in September 2006 and has become a full family member thanks to her training at Padders Dog Club. Passing the Kennel Club Bronze award for citizenship in July 2007 was the proof that even a rescued Lurcher who was scared of her own shadow, can become a trained dog, calm with other dogs, everyday life, traffic and other distractions.

Whilst training for the Bronze award, Tigger started a dog agility class and has done well. High and long jumps were part of her training at Padders and so these were easy obstacles as was a fixed tunnel. Contact obstacles were a little more difficult but after 9 months training Tigger loves the ‘A’ frame and dog walk while mastering the see saw, hoop and closed tunnel. The last obstacle to be mastered is the weave poles, which for a dog with a very muscular rear end can be a bit tough but she pushes those poles right out of her way for a treat of sausage.

   Buster & Daisy

       We love going to school!!

Hello, our names are Buster and Daisy - we are brother and sister Yorkshire Terriers and will soon be 2 years old.

We go to Padders Dog Club every Saturday morning at the Scout Hut, next to St Mary's church, in Halton Village and we have lots and lots of fun with all our friends there.

We first started going to Padders Dog Club when we were puppies to get some basic training and now that we have completed the basic training we have moved up to the next class where we practice handling and agility with our Mum and Dad.

In puppy class we met lots of new friends, all of which are much bigger than the two of us.  We were all taught to get along and behave no matter how big we were, Aunty Jenny made sure of that!!  We learned basic commands that we could respond to both indoors and outdoors so that we were both safe and well mannered.  Whenever we did well we got a treat which encouraged us to carry on learning new things and practicing them.

Once we had completed the basic training we then moved onto handling and learned how to behave properly on and off lead.  We also had lots of fun 'cos we got to practice fetching our favourite toys.  In basic training, we learned how to sit down really quickly when told, but when we were asked to lie down we were a bit naughty and wouldn't do it which meant we got shouted at quite a bit.  So our Mum practiced and practiced every week just like Aunty Jenny said and we eventually did it. Now we do it all the time when told to - we just need to learn to stay in one place for longer than 30 seconds 'cos we are just soooooooooo excited at school and want to play all the time!!

We absolutely love the agility and Aunty Jenny is going to put a team together to do shows.  We go round together sometimes and it is so much fun.  We are the fastest 'cos we are the smallest.  TJ usually gets stuck in the tunnel 'cos he is so big, George likes to carry his own lead thru the tunnel (very sensible George!), Toby is just learning what to do and Trixie jumps over the really big fence with no problem at all.

Another friend is Flo and she comes every week with Aunty Joy.  Flo sits and watches over all of us 'cos she is really good and can do everything really well.

Last year we qualified for the bronze award for the Kennel Club Good Dog scheme and we both got a certificate and rosette.  We are practising to get the silver award at the moment which tests both the dogs in the class and their handlers.  It is hard work but well worth it. Each week the handlers to get together just after the class and have a chat about what we have done and go thru any problems that they have. They have coffee and biscuits and it is quite a social event.  We all get to know one another and even meet up outside of class to do things.

It will soon be summer which means we get to practice outside in the fresh air.  We sometimes go on picnics together too which means lots of fresh air and playing for us dogs and lots of coffee and cakes for all the Mummy's and Daddys!!  Last year, Daddy ran round the agility course with us over and over while Mummy stayed at home with the new addition to the family, Tyler.  We really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again.  Tyler sits and watches us each week from his pram in the corner but I am sure he will be running around the agility course with us one day.

Right, must go now to carry on practising 'cos it's school in the morning.

See ya!
